If there is one thing we’ve learned lately, it’s that the world is hungry for squishies. Specifically, the kind of squish that only a NeeDoh can provide. We get it! They are delightful, they are satisfying, and they are currently the unofficial currency of cool in Petaluma.
We love that you love them. Truly. But after our most recent Saturday "NeeDoh Drop", which featured a line out the door and, alas, more broken hearts than stress balls, we’ve realized that our current "Big Announcement" system is a bit like trying to give a cat a bath. It’s chaotic, everyone ends up a little stressed, and someone usually leaves with a scratch (or in our case, a spicy Google review).
The New "Low-Key" Vibe
We want Poppy’s to be your "third place", that cozy, happy spot between home and work where the vibes are high and the stress is low. To keep it that way, we’re making a few tiny tweaks to how we handle our NeeDoh drops:
- The Secret Garden Approach: We have small shipments arriving throughout the week. Instead of a giant announcement on social media that sends the town into a frenzy, we’re just going to tuck them onto the shelves as they arrive.
- Don't Call Us, We'll (Maybe) See You: Our poor phone lines are currently vibrating off the hooks. To keep our team focused on the humans actually in the building, we won't be able to give stock updates over the phone.
- The "Insta-Scroll" Strategy: If you want a hint, keep a casual eye on our Instagram Stories. We might post a sneaky "spotted in the wild" photo, but consider it more of a scavenger hunt than a formal invitation.
- Keeping it Fair: We will continue to enforce strict limits on how many NeeDohs one person can take home. We want to make sure as many hands as possible get a chance to squish.
A Note on Kindness
We’ve been announcing drops as a kind gesture, but we’ve realized it’s actually creating some disappointment. It turns out we can’t actually manufacture more rubber and goo in the back room (we tried; it was messy), and we hate seeing our friends frustrated when the bin runs dry.
So, let’s go back to the magic of the unplanned find. Next time you’re in for a boba or a browse, you might just get lucky. And if the bin is empty? We have a whole store full of other treasures!
We love this community and we want every visit to Poppy’s to feel like a win, even if you leave empty-handed on the squish front.
See you at the shop!
